About Joe Michelli

Joe Michelli

I presently reside in Yaroomba near the town of Coolum Beach on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. I have been consistently producing art work for a good portion of my life. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and an Art Education Certificate from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. I was born and raised in the city of Chicago, but since 1996 I live and work in Australia . My artistic influences are pretty eclectic. I am thoroughly steeped in the history of western art from ancient to modern and I have explored thoroughly the art of Islam, ancient Greek, Roman, Sumerian and Egyptian art as well. My work can vary from the abstract to the strictly academic, from the surreal to the illustrative. I paint what I feel like painting in...
